Terms of Use

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using the DocuServices NZ website or submitting data for validation or error correction, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the service. These terms apply to all users, including individuals submitting their own certificate data and organisations submitting data on behalf of others.

2. Description of service

DocuServices NZ provides the following services:

• Data validation — we check the recorded data on a New Zealand marriage certificate against authoritative reference sources to identify discrepancies, errors or inconsistencies in names, dates, places, registration numbers or other certificate fields
• Error correction reporting — where our data validation process identifies an error, we document each correction required and send a detailed email report to the user specifying the exact nature of each discrepancy and the corrected data

DocuServices NZ is an independent data validation and error correction provider. We are not affiliated with, authorised by or acting on behalf of the New Zealand Government, the Department of Internal Affairs or Births, Deaths and Marriages NZ. We do not issue, authenticate or replace official certificates. We do not submit correction requests to any government body on your behalf.

3. Eligibility and user obligations

You must be at least 18 years old to use this service. By submitting data for validation, you confirm that:

• You are the person named on the certificate, or you have explicit written consent from that person to submit their certificate data for validation
• The information you provide is accurate and complete to the best of your knowledge
• You will not use the validation or error correction output for any unlawful purpose
• You will not attempt to interfere with, damage or gain unauthorised access to the DocuServices NZ systems

4. Data submission for validation

When you submit certificate data for validation, you provide personal data (names, dates, places and related registration information) to enable us to carry out the data validation process. By submitting, you consent to this data being processed solely for the purpose of data validation and error correction. Your data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy, Data Handling Policy and Consent Policy.

We do not share your personal data with third parties beyond what is strictly necessary to perform the validation. We do not retain personal data beyond the period required to complete and deliver the validation report.

5. Fees and payment

The current fee for data validation and error correction services is displayed on the service page before you submit your data. Fees are charged per validation request. By submitting a validation request you agree to pay the applicable fee. Payments are processed through our payment processor; we do not store card data.

Fees are non-refundable once the data validation process has begun, except where we are unable to complete the validation due to an error on our part.

6. Validation and correction reports

Upon completion of the data validation process, we will deliver an error correction report to the email address you provided. This report will:

• Confirm which data fields were validated
• Identify any discrepancies or errors found in the certificate data
• Specify the corrected data for each identified error
• Provide guidance on how to pursue an official correction through BDM NZ if required

The validation and error correction report is a private document produced by an independent provider. It has no official legal standing. We make no warranty that the report identifies every error in a given document, or that acting on the report will result in any particular outcome with a government agency.

7. Intellectual property

All content on the DocuServices NZ website — including text, design, graphics, the validation process and report format — is the intellectual property of GOV PAPERS SL. You may not reproduce, distribute or commercially exploit any part of this website or its output without our prior written permission. Your validation report is provided for your personal use only.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, GOV PAPERS SL and DocuServices NZ shall not be liable for:

• Any loss or damage arising from reliance on a data validation or error correction report
• The outcome of any correction procedure you pursue with BDM or any other body
• Any interruption to or unavailability of the service
• Any third-party decision made in response to our error correction documentation

Our total liability in connection with any service shall not exceed the fee paid for that service.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. The current version will always be available at this URL. Continued use of the service after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. Material changes will be highlighted at the top of this page.

10. Governing law

These Terms of Use are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Spain. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Barcelona, Spain, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection rights you may have under the law of your country of residence.
